The Paricutín volcano, located in Michoacán, Mexico, is one of the youngest volcanoes in the history of mankind. It was discovered in 1943 and was formed in a span of only 9 years. Although it is no longer active, it is still a place of tourist and scientific interest. If you want to hike the Paricutin volcano, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Make sure you have good footwear and comfortable walking clothes. Also bring enough water and food for the hike.
Follow the signs and trail directions, and respect the speed limits and restrictions on use of the volcano.
Be careful with the altitude and weather. The Paricutin volcano is at an altitude of 2,800 meters and the weather can change rapidly.
Do not get too close to the volcano’s crater. Although it is no longer active, there may still be unexpected dangers.
If you are not used to walking long distances, you may want to hire a local guide or join an organized tour.
